![]() While PoPs are highest in northeast Georgia, isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible across the northern half of the forecast area due to diurnally-driven convection. Forcing ahead of this feature will promote the development of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening hours in the far northeast. This afternoon, a mid- level impulse will round the northwesterly flow on the western side of this trough, dropping into the central Appalachians and into northeast Georgia. ![]() On the topic of the cutoff low near New England: Today it is expected to intensify as it rotates northeastward towards the Canadian Maritimes, and troughing on the back side of the low will amplify over the eastern CONUS as a result. Temperatures will rise to afternoon highs in the mid to upper 80s. Any fog and stratus that develops this morning is expected to be quick to dissipate after sunrise. Wet ground conditions from recent rainfall and mostly clear skies could lead to the development of patchy fog and the development of a low stratus deck during the early morning in portions of far north Georgia. ![]() Low temperatures this morning are forecast to be mainly in the low to mid 60s. Guidance continues to trend more moist with dewpoints for today and tomorrow, which are forecast to range from the upper 50s in central Georgia (and higher elevations of far northeast Georgia) to the mid 60s across much of north Georgia. A persistent upper high will remain centered over the Northern Plains, while cutoff lows will be positioned near the southern California coast upstream of the high and near the New England coast downstream.
